CAT 2026 Correction Window Opens October 5: What Can You Edit in CAT Form?
The CAT 2026 correction window is scheduled to open on October 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM and will remain available until 5:00 PM on October 6, 2026. The correction facility is for candidates who have successfully registered for CAT 2026 and paid the application fee.
However, this is not a full CAT application form editing window. It has allowed changes only in selected fields: candidate photograph, signature and test state/city preferences. Personal, academic and other application details cannot be changed during this correction period.

What Can You Edit in the CAT 2026 Correction Window?
This is the most important thing CAT aspirants need to know.
The CAT 2026 application correction window does not allow candidates to edit the entire form.
Only three areas are available for correction:
| CAT Form Field | Can You Edit It? | What Can Be Changed? |
| Photograph | Yes | Replace/update photograph if required |
| Signature | Yes | Replace/update signature if required |
| Test City Preferences | Yes | Modify/re-order available test-city preferences |
| Name | No | Cannot be changed |
| Date of Birth | No | Cannot be changed |
| Registered Email ID | No | Cannot be changed |
| Mobile Number | No | Cannot be changed |
| Category | No | Cannot be changed |
| Academic Details | No | Cannot be changed |
| Work Experience | No | Cannot be changed |
The permitted correction fields have been reported consistently from the CAT 2026 correction-window notification: photograph, signature and test state/city preferences.
CAT 2026 Photo Correction: What Should Candidates Check?
If your uploaded photograph does not meet the CAT application requirements, the correction window is the opportunity to replace it.
Before uploading a new photograph, check:
- Photograph is recent and clearly visible
- Face is properly visible
- Image meets the prescribed CAT specifications
- Background and image quality follow the application guidelines
- The photograph is not blurred or excessively cropped
Do not upload a random selfie or an image that does not follow the CAT application instructions.
Tip: Keep the final photograph ready before October 5 instead of trying to edit everything at the last minute.
CAT 2026 Signature Correction
Candidates who are unhappy with or have uploaded an incorrect signature can use the correction facility to replace it.
Before submitting the new signature, check the official CAT instructions for the required:
- File format
- Dimensions
- File size
- Visibility
- Signature placement
A signature that is too small, unclear or different from the required format can create unnecessary problems during application verification.
CAT 2026 Test City Correction
The third important correction allowed is test state/city preference.
This is particularly important for candidates who:
- Selected a city that is difficult to reach
- Have moved to another city
- Selected an inconvenient city preference
- Want to re-order their available preferences
Candidates should remember that changing preferences does not necessarily guarantee allocation of a particular test city. Final centre allocation remains subject to the CAT examination authority's process and availability.
What Cannot Be Edited in CAT 2026 Correction Window?
A common misconception is that the CAT correction window allows candidates to correct every mistake in their application.
It does not.
Candidates should not expect to modify information such as:
Name, date of birth, registered email ID, mobile number, category, academic marks, graduation details or work experience.
Therefore, if you discover an error in one of these fields, do not assume that it can be changed during the October correction window. The officially permitted correction fields are limited.
How to Edit CAT 2026 Application Form?
Once the correction window becomes active, candidates can follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the official CAT website
Go to:
CAT 2026 Official Website – iimcat.ac.in
Step 2: Login
Use your registered CAT User ID and password.
Step 3: Open the Application Form
Look for the correction/edit option available on the candidate dashboard.
Step 4: Check Your Details
Review your photograph, signature and test-city preferences carefully.
Step 5: Make Permitted Changes
Edit only the fields enabled by the CAT portal.
Step 6: Preview the Form
Check the updated information before submitting.
Step 7: Submit the Correction
Save and submit the corrected details.
Step 8: Keep Confirmation
Take a screenshot or save the confirmation page for your records.
CAT 2026 Correction Window: Don't Wait Until October 6
The correction window is only open for a short period.
A safer approach is:
- Login to the CAT 2026 portal
- Check your photograph
- Check your signature
- Review your test-city preferences
- Make corrections, if required
- Submit the changes
- Save the confirmation for your records
Do not wait until the final few hours because website traffic, login issues or technical problems can occur close to deadlines.
CAT 2026 Exam: What Should You Prepare Now?
The correction window comes less than two months before the CAT 2026 examination scheduled for November 29, 2026.
That means candidates should now shift their attention from the application form to CAT preparation, mocks, previous-year papers and college planning.
CAT preparation broadly covers:
| Section | Major Preparation Areas |
| VARC | Reading Comprehension, Para Summary, Para Jumbles, Odd Sentence |
| DILR | Arrangements, Games & Tournaments, Selection, Distribution, Tables, Charts |
| QA | Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Number System, Modern Mathematics |
For a detailed section-wise preparation guide, read the MatchToCollege CAT 2026 Syllabus: Section-Wise Topics & Weightage Guide:

CAT Logical Reasoning Practice: Start Solving Sets Now
With the CAT exam approaching, candidates should not limit preparation to reading the syllabus.
Regular practice is especially important for DILR, where set selection and time management can significantly affect performance.
MatchToCollege has a dedicated CAT Logical Reasoning Practice Sets with Solutions article covering arrangements, ranking, selection, scheduling, games and tournaments, distribution and logical deduction.

Why You Should Start College Research Before CAT Result
Many CAT aspirants wait until their result to research colleges.
That can make the post-result period unnecessarily stressful.
Start creating your college list now based on:
- Expected CAT percentile
- Sectional performance
- Academic profile
- Category
- Work experience
- MBA fees
- Placement outcomes
- Location
- Specialisation
- Admission process
- Application deadlines
Also remember that minimum CAT cutoff and actual interview-call percentile are not necessarily the same. IIM Bangalore, for example, explicitly states that candidates actually called for interviews had scores higher than the published minimum first-shortlist cutoffs.
Check Which MBA Colleges You Can Target
Once you have your expected CAT percentile, the next question is usually:
Which IIMs and MBA colleges can I get?
Instead of manually checking every college, use the MatchToCollege CAT College Predictor to explore potential options based on your percentile and profile.
You can compare potential colleges based on factors such as:
- CAT percentile
- Category
- Academic profile
- Work experience
- Fees
- Placement information
- Location
- Admission criteria
CAT 2026 Correction Window: Final Checklist

| Test City Preferences | Correct city/state preferences and order |
