MCC NEET SS Counselling 2026 Round 2 Schedule Out at mcc.nic.in; Registration to Reopen on August 5

MCC will reopen NEET SS 2026 Round 2 counselling registration on August 5, 2026. All candidates are now eligible for auto-upgradation in Round 2. Round 1 seat resignation window closes on August 4.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) 2026 Round 2 counselling schedule on the official portal at mcc.nic.in. As per the notice dated August 3, 2026, MCC will reopen the Registration and Reset Registration window for Round 2 from August 5, 2026.

The schedule covers registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting for the DM and MCh super speciality seats.

Candidates who wish to participate in Round 2 must complete registration or reset their existing registration within the notified window.

The choice filling and locking facility will open in parallel on the MCC portal. Aspirants can then view their allotment result and report at the assigned institute as per the schedule.

• Registration / Payment: August 5, 2026, to August 12, 2026 (up to 3:00 PM)

• Choice Filling & Locking: August 6, 2026, to August 13, 2026

• Seat Allotment Result: August 17, 2026

• Institute Reporting / Joining: August 18, 2026, to August 22, 2026

MCC has introduced a major change in the Round 2 upgradation policy. All candidates will now be considered for auto upgradation in Round 2. This applies whether or not they opted for upgradation in Round 1.

The earlier rule needed candidates to give explicit willingness for upgradation. That condition has been removed for this round. Aspirants who prefer a better seat should therefore fill fresh choices in Round 2.

How Should Round 1 Allottees Handle Round 2?

Candidates who joined a Round 1 seat and want to keep it must not submit choices in Round 2. Filing any choice will pull them into the upgradation pool automatically. Their original Round 1 seat will then stand cancelled if a new seat is allotted.

Those satisfied with their current allotment should simply skip the choice filling step. Their Round 1 admission will remain intact under this approach.

Why Was the Schedule Delayed?

The NEET SS 2026 Round 2 counselling was held up due to a pending Supreme Court matter. The case concerns the reversion of in-service medical seats in Tamil Nadu to the All India Quota pool. MCC has stated the registration facility will remain open until further court orders.

Seat matrix updates have already been issued for Tamil Nadu vacant in-service seats. Candidates should track the MCC website for any revised dates linked to the court verdict.

Why This Matters

The blanket auto upgradation rule is a first for NEET SS Round 2 this year. It widens the upgradation pool for every registered candidate. Aspirants must weigh this carefully before locking Round 2 choices.

2. Complete fresh registration or reset your existing Round 1 registration.

4. Fill and lock choices only if you want a new or upgraded seat.

The MCC has outlined a strict timeline for the Round 2 process to ensure a streamlined admission cycle for the 2026-27 academic session. Key dates include:

• Round 3 Dates: September 10, 2026, to September 18, 2026

• Stray Vacancy Round: September 28, 2026, to October 3, 2026.

• Reporting to Allotted Colleges: Candidates must report within the stipulated window provided in the allotment letter

Aspirants are advised to monitor the official MCC portal frequently for any real-time adjustments to the schedule or additional notices regarding the seat matrix.

For candidates who did not register in Round 1 or those who are now eligible for Round 2, the portal reopening on August 5 is the primary gateway.

The process involves:

2. Selecting the 'Super Specialty Counselling' tab.
3. Clicking on the 'New Registration' link and entering valid credentials (Roll Number, Application Number).
4. Paying the required non-refundable registration fee and refundable security deposit.

Existing registered candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 do not need to register again but must participate in the fresh choice-filling process for Round 2.
