CAT Admit Card: Key Dates & Overview
The release of the CAT admit card is a significant milestone for every aspirant. While specific dates vary annually, understanding the typical timeline and official channels is crucial. For the upcoming CAT examination cycle (e.g., CAT 2026), here’s an overview of the key dates and details you should be aware of:
| Parameter | Details |
| CAT Admit Card Release Date | 4 November 2026 (Expected for current cycle) |
| Official Release Time | To be announced by IIMs |
| Expected Release Time | Around 10 AM to 5 PM (based on past trends) |
| Official Website | iimcat.ac.in |
| Last Date to Download | 29 November 2026 (CAT Exam Day) |
| CAT Exam Date | 29 November 2026 (Sunday) |
It's important to note that while IIMs strive to adhere to announced schedules, there can be occasional shifts. For instance, in a previous cycle (CAT 2025), the admit card release was postponed by a week. Always rely on official announcements from iimcat.ac.in for the most accurate information.
How to Download Your CAT Admit Card
Downloading your CAT admit card is a straightforward process, but it requires careful attention to detail. Remember, the admit card is only accessible through your candidate login on the official CAT website. Avoid any third-party links or requests for your login credentials.
Follow these steps once the download link is active:
- Visit the Official Website: Navigate to iimcat.ac.in.
- Locate Candidate Login: Find and click on the 'Candidate Login' or 'Admit Card Download' link on the homepage.
- Enter Credentials: Input your User ID and Password. If you've forgotten your password, use the 'Forgot Password' option to reset it.
- Access Admit Card: Once logged in, your admit card will be displayed on the screen.
- Verify Details: Carefully check all the information on the admit card (your name, photograph, signature, category, test date, slot, and exam centre details).
- Download and Print: Download the admit card as a PDF file and take at least two clear printouts on A4 size paper. Keep one copy safe as a backup.
Due to high traffic on release day, the website might experience temporary slowdowns. If you face issues, try again after some time, perhaps late at night or early in the morning. Ensure your internet connection is stable.
Understanding Your Admit Card & Exam Day Essentials
Your CAT admit card contains vital information that dictates your exam day experience. Scrutinize every detail as soon as you download it. Here’s what to look for and what you absolutely must carry to the test centre:
Key Details on Your Admit Card:
- Your Name, Photograph, and Signature
- CAT Registration Number
- Date of Birth and Category
- Test Date and Slot (Morning, Afternoon, or Evening)
- Reporting Time and Gate Closing Time
- Exam Centre Name and Address
- Important Instructions for Exam Day
If you find any discrepancy in your personal details (name, photo, category), immediately contact the CAT helpdesk (details available on iimcat.ac.in) with a screenshot and your User ID. Note that the test slot, city, and centre are allotted at this stage and cannot be changed.
Documents Mandatory for Exam Day:
Without these, you will not be permitted to enter the examination hall:
| Parameter | Requirement |
| Printed CAT Admit Card | Mandatory (A4 size, clear print, with your photograph affixed if required) |
| Original Photo ID Proof | Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, College ID (must be valid and unexpired) |

Remember, mobile phones, electronic gadgets, calculators, watches, and any study material are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Only the specified documents and a simple transparent ballpoint pen are allowed.
Important Considerations & Troubleshooting
While the CAT admit card release is usually smooth, it's wise to be prepared for potential scenarios and understand common queries:

- Date Changes: While rare, the admit card release date can shift. Always refer to iimcat.ac.in for official updates. Do not rely on unverified news from other sources.
- Forgot Password: If you cannot log in, use the 'Forgot Password' option on the candidate login page. Do not share your credentials with anyone.
- Technical Glitches: High traffic on the release day can sometimes lead to slow website performance. Be patient and try downloading at off-peak hours.
- Admit Card Validity: You can download your admit card from the release date until the exam day. However, it's highly recommended to download and print it well in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
